Fashion Week with JINsoon

FW17

Fashion week: The exclusive event that every fashion connoisseur wants to attend. A colossal display of creativity, composition and construction. The buzz of behind-the-scenes ranges from a handful of busy individuals to an exciting rush of people, determined to get their job done. The hair and makeup artists are so meticulous, making sure there isn’t a crooked lash or hair out of place. The nail artists are focused on creating a mini masterpiece of gloss and shine that will complete the whole look.

The Tibi show was on Saturday and the tagline to describe the collection was Work, Play, Live; it was all about strength, confidence and independence. The overall visual of the show was relatively monochromatic, including some patterns, but each look featured a pop of color; a bright hue on the index finger. JINsoon Cool Blue, Hope, Charme, Pop Orange and Heirloom were used for some fun color play that really embodied the vibe of the collection and brought the look together.

“Femininity with a bite” was the theme of the Prabal Gurung show on Sunday evening, highlighting camo and beading as trends for Fall 2017. The collection was bright, bold and fierce; that’s why rich neutral shades such as JINsoon Grace and Toff were used to complement the fearless look with an edgy ‘half dipped’ manicure. A smoldering nude shade was also used in the look which will be released in the near future on jinsoon.com. The show and the collection itself exuded an influential message of female empowerment, featuring shirts with sayings such as THE FUTURE IS FEMALE, MY BOYFRIEND IS A FEMINIST along with phrases that could empower anybody like, LOVE IS LOVE, I AM AN IMMIGRANT and BREAK DOWN WALLS. Gurung feels very strongly about the feminist movement and said “For me personally, fashion has more than ever a responsibility to be a platform for change and to be a conversation starter”. A portion of the proceeds from the shirts will be going to various organizations that support the movement.

On Monday, the inspiration for Phillip Lim’s show was color, curiosity and courage. His vision, “romancing reality”, featured jewel tones presented in a monochromatic fashion playing with different textures and finishes. Starring pink and blue hues, the color palette of the collection went perfectly with JINsoon’s smoky teal polish in Charade. The runway show happened in between translucent pink panels which Phillip Lim described as choosing to “view the world through rose colored lenses”.

Wednesday was a double feature for JINsoon with the Michael Kors show and Derek Lam presentation on the agenda. The Michael Kors team used phrases like “strength and sensuality” and “urban luxe” to describe the fall collection which presented a creative compilation of textures and prints. Each ensemble was topped off with a purse and a smoky nude manicure. The Derek Lam presentation was full of bold shades including red, gold, black and white. JINsoon Muse, a must-have sheer nude, was used to conclude the look by complementing the statement-making hues of the wardrobe.

Overall fashion week for the JINsoon team was an exciting ride with plenty of creativity, ingenuity and inspiration along the way. Getting a chance to see how these amazing shows come together is a compelling experience that really opens one’s eyes to the creative process. The vision of the show is imagined to clearly as to determine the overall theme down to the shade of polish that will best compliment the look, because nail polish truly is one of the best accessories.
